GRITS' - Mobile Data Computers ready to go!

GRITS has taken transportation services to a new level with vehicle mobile data computers (MDCs) and RouteMatch, a management/scheduling software package that predetermines the most efficient trip routes. This cutting-edge technology allows GRITS to compile real-time data using Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) /Automated Vehicle Locator (AVL). With it, the agency transmits manifests to drivers who then log picked-up, dropped-off, cancellation or no-show passengers and other information effortlessly by touching a computer screen. In addition, RouteMatch, which performs automated scheduling utilizing Real Street network data, calculates exact reimbursements contractors receive for services based on the most efficient trip routes. Broker-billing, developed by GRITS Manager Rajen Shah, is the agency’s newest innovative software. It is a paperless system scheduled to be implemented in the summer of 2005 that will allow a more efficient way of communicating with all its contractors.

“GRITS is constantly striving to improve the efficiency and coordination of its system as well as the safety and comfort of its passengers,” said Rajen Shah, GRITS manager. “Safe and reliable transportation is key for Kentucky citizens to stay healthy, active and productive.”

In addition to its technology, GRITS is monitoring other areas of its service, including:

  • Vehicle safety education and awareness

  • Drop-off and pick-up times

  • Proposed versus actual routes driven

  • Improved coordination

  • Customer satisfaction

  • Reduced paper usage

  • Increased accuracy of trip data
